According to data from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences' Oceanography Research Center (Pusat Penelitian Oseanografi LIPI), approximately 8 million tons of plastic waste enter the sea each year. This plastic waste originates from various sources, such as household waste, industries, and maritime activities.

The impact of plastic waste in the ocean is highly detrimental to marine life. Plastic waste continuously being dumped into the sea can be fatal to fish and other marine animals. Additionally, plastic waste can affect the quality of seawater and disrupt the balance of the ecosystem.

Moreover, plastic waste can also impact human health. Plastic waste that is continuously dumped into the sea can be ingested by fish and other marine animals, which are later consumed by humans. This can lead to health issues such as poisoning and diseases.
